Turkish Airlines Business Class

Turkish Airlines Business Class: Global Connectivity via Istanbul

Turkish Airlines (TK), based at its expansive new hub in Istanbul Airport (IST), offers a highly competitive option for premium travellers heading to Thailand. As a major Star Alliance carrier, TK provides frequent connections from virtually every major city in Europe, often via short connection times.

The key differentiators for Turkish Airlines are its excellent catering, vast route network, and the world-renowned quality of its Business Class lounge in Istanbul.

1. The Cabin Product: Consistent Comfort

Turkish Airlines primarily uses the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 on its long-haul routes to Asia, ensuring a modern and comfortable cabin environment.

• Configuration and Access: The Business Class on these new aircraft is generally configured in a 1-2-1 layout, guaranteeing direct aisle access for every passenger—a crucial requirement for a quality long-haul experience.
• Fully Flat Bed: The seats convert into a true, fully flat bed. While the seats themselves might be slightly narrower than those of rivals like Singapore Airlines, the fully private nature of the 1-2-1 setup ensures comfort for sleeping.
• Aesthetics: The cabin design is modern and warm, often incorporating subdued Turkish cultural elements.

The Caution: Older Aircraft

Similar to other major carriers, some older aircraft (like the Boeing 777-300ER) may still feature an older Business Class product. While typically still comfortable, quality-focused travellers should confirm their flight is operated by the newer A350 or 787 for the best hardware experience.

2. Service and Catering: The Flying Chefs

The soft product is where Turkish Airlines truly excels, particularly regarding its food and beverage offering.

• Award-Winning Catering: TK\’s in-flight catering is consistently ranked among the best globally. Meals are served in a restaurant style, often on porcelain dishes, and prepared by a dedicated \”Flying Chef\” who oversees the preparation and presentation of the main courses.
• Variety: The menu offers an excellent blend of international cuisine and sophisticated Turkish dishes, providing a unique cultural experience mid-flight.
• Hospitality: The cabin crew service is professional and attentive, maintaining a high standard of care throughout the journey.

3. The Istanbul Hub and Lounge Experience

Istanbul Airport (IST) is a massive, modern facility, and the Business Class lounge is a significant draw for many travellers.

• The Turkish Airlines Business Lounge: This is one of the world\’s most highly-regarded lounges. Its scale is vast, offering an incredible variety of amenities including self-service food stations, fresh pide and Turkish coffee stations, shower facilities, a cinema, and quiet resting areas. It transforms the transit into a luxury experience.
• Geographic Advantage: The short flight from Europe to Istanbul, followed by a long-haul flight to Bangkok/Phuket, often results in flight timings that are very convenient for European travellers.

4. Southern Thailand Access

Turkish Airlines offers robust connectivity to Thailand\’s two main international gateways:
