Purpose

This learning pathway explores how local communities become active contributors to destination development through collaboration, innovation and responsible tourism.

Rather than focusing on tourism products alone, participants learn how destinations can generate long-term environmental, cultural, social and economic value.

The programme combines international cooperation, non-formal education and field-based learning to strengthen both local communities and future Destination Development Specialists.

Developing the Sustainable Destination Development Framework

Participants work alongside local communities, public authorities, tourism operators and cultural organisations to explore practical approaches to sustainable destination development.
